Rockets Thrive Without Howard

Terrance-Jones-Houston-RocketsOne of the NBA’s hottest teams, the Houston Rockets, got their game back on track last night with a nice win over the Utha Jazz. Playing without their big man Dwight Howard, who sat out for the first time this season because of an ankle strain, the Rockets dominated the game from the beginning. Dwight Howard, the team’s improving center, was one of the biggest cheerleaders on the sideline though.

In the opening quarter, Chandler Parsons found Terrance Jones for a huge one handed stuff. That was the beginning of a big night for the Rockets and Jones, who finished the night with 30 points.

Expanding on a 19 point half time lead, the Rockets got an even bigger boost in the third quarter with Terrance Jones adding 13 more points to his first half total. It was obvious that James Harden welcomed such great play from Jones, and seemingly used it as an opportunity to get some much needed rest. Harden has logged a lot of miles on his sneakers since joining the Rockets.

Omer Ashik, backup center to Dwight Howard, also had a very good game contributed with a double-double, adding 12 points and 11 rebounds With Jeremy Lin contributing with 17 points and 9 Assists.
Houston plays the the Timberwolves at home on Thursday March 20th.

Patrick Beverley also had himself a pretty nice game with 19 points. When asked about the game, Terrance Jones agreed that this was a game that Houston needed after three consecutive loses.
